醫師我要戒口嗎?
「醫師我要戒口嗎?」相信這是病人看中醫時經常發問的問題。患病時我們好好勒住舌頭，當然可加速病情痊癒，但是如何戒口得宜，也是一種學問。
為甚麼看中醫要戒口呢?主要是因為每種食物都有性味、歸經、升降浮沉等區別，從而使不同食物產生不同的功效。每人體質不同，而病情的性質不同，食物各有偏性，戒口就是當患了疾病後，要避免某些會加重病情，或降低療效的食物。
簡單而言，服藥戒口應按照以下的原則，熱性病應忌食辛辣、油膩、煎炸類食物；寒性病應忌食生冷；有痰飲瘀阻者，應忌食肥肉、脂肪、動物內臟等；陰虛陽亢者，應忌食胡椒、辣椒、大蒜、白酒等辛熱助陽之品；脾胃氣虛應忌食油炸粘膩、
寒冷堅硬、不易被消化的食物。
坊間常說患感冒不能吃雞，因為雞肉偏補，而感冒時不能進補。事實上只對了一半!每人的體質不同，所戒口的便不盡相同。感冒如果發熱，喝雞湯會引邪入裡，因雞油雞皮熱量很高，雞肉也較溫補。但對一些虛型感冒時很少發熱，可以適量吃雞肉增強體質。不過當腸胃不適時，就不要亂吃肉，清淡的食物有助減輕身體的負擔，幫助脾氣恢復。
常見疾病都有一些特定的戒口食物，尤經常說避免吃會「發」的食物。「發物」乃泛指易引起上火、生痰、發瘡、過敏、或令舊疾復發、新病加重的各種食物。常見發物如蝦、蟹、鴨、鵝、動物內臟、竹筍等。常見過敏的8類食物包括蛋類、牛奶、花生、黃豆、小麥、堅果、魚類、和甲殼類食品。闔注皮膚病健康人仕，應忌食腥膻發物、濕毒及辛辣刺激性食品。筋傷、骨傷的患者要忌糯米、酸辣、芋頭等傷筋的東西。
戒口要視乎體質病情，慢性病過份戒口也可能引起營養不良，所以我們要多點認識各食物的屬性，才能更理性地適當戒口。
